Don's brief life story

Don was born on the 31st July 1924 to Alan and Annie May Benn, he was brought up in Kirkstal Leeds and attended St Stephens School. Don was also a Chior boy at St stephens church. After leaving school don served his time as a sewing machine engineer but in after the onset of war Don joined the RAF in 1942 where he served as a aircraft engineer. Don left the RAF in 1947 and stgarted work at the Yorkshire Copper works in Stourton Leeds where he worked to retirement in 1986. Don was a keen cyclist and with a few friends formed a small club which took to the roads most weekends leading Don to meet Glenda who he eventually married on the 31st March 1956. Don and Glenda had two children Maureen and Paul and lived most of there married life Bramley Leeds, but moved into Maureen's house in Bolton in 1997. Don was a proud father and eventually Grandad to Elliott and Luke, this was cut short when Dementia took over 2006 and eventually forcing Don into a care home where he lived for the last two years.
